Harvest festival and our 'Farmers Day'We celebrated Harvest as part of a cross-phase themed day. We all dressed as farmers or farm animals and started the day with a farmhouse breakfast. Parents enjoyed one too! The children performed songs and poems to an audience of friends and families. The rest of the day was spent working in mixed age groups carrying out fantastic farm themed tasks. A highlight of the day was visiting a farm in our own grounds!
Year 6 enjoyed an action packed week on their Residential Trip to Little Canada on the Isle of Wight. The challenges included aeroball, Jacob's ladder, archery, fencing, abseiling, quad biking, sensory trail, team games, giant swing, high ropes, climbing wall. The disco proved a great success too! Please enjoy our photographs.
Year 1 and 2 had a fabulous Drama, Dance and Music workshop with TOTM(Theatre On The Move). The workshop was planned and delivered by a team of Students from the University of Chichester as part of their work in the community. It was carefully planned for our children to enhance our Literacy, Music and Dance curriculum and supported our Topic work on Africa. The inspirational music came from the 'Lion King.' The workshop started with a stunning dance performance by the 5 TOTM team members. Drama for writing! Describing and moving like African animals, monkey, lion, elephant and birds. Dancing to 'I just can't wait to be king'! Singing 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight'. African instruments provided a great accompaniment to our singing! Thank you Hannah, Vee, Katie, Kitty and Becca!
Our girls football team represented Crawley in style by winning football gold at the Sussex School Games. The competition was billed by some as a 'mini Olympics' took place on the 6th of March. The competition was tough but the girls won every match and only conceded 1 goal throughout the entire competition! Well done girls we are all very proud of you!
As part of Red Nose Day, we celebrated heroes! The school had a special assembly where local heroes joined us. We had visits from paramedics, police, police dogs, a nurse, a footballer and not forgetting our school lollipop helpers! The children and staff dressed up as either real life heroes or superheroes. As well as special assemblies held throughout the day with our visitors, the children were involved in lots of creative activities. These included print making superhero logos, collages, making rosettes, designing superhero costumes, making super hero puppets, being shown how to draw and design a super hero. Emily and Abigail were making puppet heroes. They made horses because Emily aspires to be a show jumper. Abby
“I have made a rosette for my hero, me!” She thought she was a hero for rescuing her cat. Today the whole school enjoyed the pantomine Pinocchio performed by M & M productions. We all loved it!
Year 3 had a wonderful time at Sayers Croft taking up challenges and lots of outdoor activities. Please look at our slideshow! Year 4 enjoyed a fun filled day as they dressed up as Victorians and used drama and role-play to learn what life was like for children of that period.
